FlashSFTP uses the SSH protocol for encrypted transfers and relies on Windows for protected credential storage. It does not include analytics, advertising or behavioural telemetry.

What does FlashSFTP connect to?
FlashSFTP connects to servers that provide the SFTP subsystem over SSH. That includes most Linux and Unix hosts, many NAS devices, managed hosting platforms and Windows servers with OpenSSH. It is an SFTP client—not an FTP, FTPS or legacy FXP client.
Will it work with every SSH server?
It is designed for standards-compliant SFTP servers and supports password, private-key and keyboard-interactive authentication. Compatibility can still depend on the algorithms and security policy enabled by a particular server, so unusual or heavily restricted configurations may need testing.
Can both panes connect to different servers?
Yes. Each pane is independent. You can use one local and one remote pane, two local panes, or two SFTP panes connected to different servers.
How does remote editing work?
FlashSFTP downloads the file into a recoverable workspace and opens your chosen editor. Saving the file triggers a safe upload back to the server. The upload uses a temporary remote name before replacing the destination, reducing the chance of leaving a partially written file.
Where are passwords and settings stored?
Passwords and private-key passphrases are protected by Windows Credential Manager. Non-secret settings, recent sites and recoverable edit workspaces stay in your Windows profile under %APPDATA%\FlashSftp.
What does the transfer queue support?
You can queue uploads, downloads and recursive folders; pause or resume processing; cancel work; retry failures; and see live progress, transfer speed and estimated time. Successful items clear automatically while failed items remain visible for action.
What are the Windows requirements?
The current preview targets 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 and requires the Microsoft .NET 8 Desktop Runtime. The installer checks for it and links to Microsoft’s official runtime page if required.
Why might Windows SmartScreen show a warning?
The preview build is not yet digitally code-signed. Windows may therefore ask you to confirm the first launch. Download only from flashsftp.com and compare the package’s SHA-256 checksum with the value published below.
Does FlashSFTP collect usage data?
No. The desktop app contains no analytics, advertising or behavioural telemetry. Connections are made directly between your computer and the servers you choose.
